aktivehoppa takes off in January
The long-planned Keighley aKtivehoppa is set for a launch on Monday 9th January 2006 when not one but two hoppa bus services will link various key facilities in the town.
Part of the sportKeighley “Keighley Integrated†initiative, which includes WalKways, CyKle and SKate, the aKtivehoppas will provide an extra spur to those wishing to shed those extra festive pounds by providing a half-hourly circular from the Town Centre to venues including Marley, the Leisure Centre, Greenhead, Holy Family and Oakbank.
To make it simple, there is a flat fare of 50p per person per evening, and you can make as many journeys as you wish for one fare on each evening. The buses are to be provided by local company Hodgson’s of Oxenhope.

Designed to link with the existing excellent public transport services provided by Keighley & District and other providers, the aim of the AKtivehoppa service is to become a popular and well-used service that is sustainable financially. There are also excellent opportunities for advertising and sponsorship. The initial service is subsidised by the Bradford Vision Environment Partnership in a scheme that has already seen the start of the marking out of WalKways routes around the town and promoted much work on developing cycling and skating infrastructure in Keighley. The environmental benefits of using public transport and the associated health benefits all add to the value of this innovative scheme
